The sixth annual National Mature Media Awards were held recently to honor the best in advertising, marketing and educational materials produced for older adults.

Gold, silver, bronze and merit awards in 33 categories were chosen from more than 1,000 entries. Categories included marketing communications, publications, audio and video tapes, educational training programs, editorial and art design. Entries included billboards, news letters, websites, magazine and newspaper articles, radio and television programs and advertising, books, annual reports, training programs and much more.

The winners were selected by a distinguished panel of judges from across the United States which represent years of expertise in many different aspects of serving the mature market. The most successful entries displayed the highest quality in design and content and viewed their older readers as people with various interests beyond those related to aging.

American Custom Publishing, Inc. sponsored the 1997 Best of Show Prize. All Gold Award recipients, which represent the top three percent of all entries, were judged by a special panel of judges. The 1997 Best of Show Prize winner is CNN for "Alzheimer's: The Long Goodbye". This outstanding television program portrays with empathy and dignity the personal trials and tragedies Alzheimer' 5 disease causes for both patients and family members.
